Patellofemoral Syndrome: Clinical Diagnosis vs Imagiology

Goal: The goal of this monography is to approach the most recent controversies for the diagnostic of Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS). Is it a clinical, imagiological diagnosis or both?
 
Methods: The bibliographic search was made using MEDLINE with the following keywords: "Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome ". It was limited to articles published until 10 years ago. Were selected articles that helped to define this syndrome and described clinical manouvres and imagiologic technics that helped to reach the SR diagnosis.
 
Synthesis: Many clinical maneuvers and imaging techniques are described to answer que question page. Trying to reach a conclusion about the best way to take for the diagnosis of PFPS.
 
Conclusion: It is possible to diagnose PFPS clinically, however, in etiologically imaging is instructive. Note that without a clear consensus on the definition of PFPS, it is difficult to achieve a irrefutable diagnosis.
